Ultrasonography is a non-invasive diagnostic tool used in veterinary medicine which allows us to visualise internal organs and structures in a range of animal species. It uses high-frequency sound waves which pass through tissue to produce an image which can help to diagnose a range of conditions. It is safe, painless and cost-effective, and can be performed on conscious patients. We will cover the basics of ultrasonography, including the equipment used and how to perform a scan, as well as how to interpret ultrasound images to diagnose common conditions.
