Rabies is a preventable disease, yet it causes about 59,000 deaths worldwide per year.
Education is a key tool in the global fight against rabies, especially considering that 99% of reported cases are caused by dog bites. Children are at high risk of dog bites and therefore contracting rabies. Forty percent of reported rabies cases worldwide are children under the age of fifteen, with one child dying from rabies every ten minutes worldwide.
The Mission Rabies Educator course is designed for individuals providing rabies education.
The lessons equip children, their teachers, and their families with the knowledge needed to protect themselves from dog bites, prevent rabies and ultimately save lives.
This course consists of this introduction and 3 modules:
- Module 1 – Understanding rabies
- Module 2 – Education principles and teaching strategies
- Module 3 – Delivering a rabies prevention lesson
