Introduction

Veterinary surgeons, animal care workers and all allied paraprofessionals must keep themselves and their patients safe from harm while avoiding spreading infectious diseases to other animals and humans. There may be limited understanding of disease spread and safety measures among equine owners and communities. New or unfamiliar diseases may present threats even to experienced personnel.

The following articles provide the basic information about Biosecurity, Zoonotic diseases transmitted from equines to humans, and sensible Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to use.
