Introduction

Foals are very vulnerable to disease and a sick foal needs priority treatment. In a working equine environment they are particularly at risk if the mare is young, in poor health or overworked. In many cases specialist hospital facilities are needed to provide the care that is needed . The following sections cover the basic problems seen by foals in the ambulatory setting.
