Let's be honest, surgical instrumentation is not the most exciting of topics to learn about, but a working knowledge of your tools and how to look after them is a crucial foundation to being a good surgeon. In this section, we review the instruments most commonly used in spay-neuter surgeries, when they should be used, and how to maintain them through their lifespan. The old saying "a craftsman (or craftswoman!) is only as good as their tools" also stands true for surgeons.
