After the sample has been taken, all contaminated equipment must be disinfected with a virucidal agent such as bleach or Vircon. The operator should be careful not to contaminate other objects or people whilst disposing of contaminated consumables and clothing.
Disposable waste should be double bagged in strong bags and clearly labelled as biohazardous. It should be securely stored to avoid risk of being opened by scavenging animals and safely disposed by a biological waste management provider as soon as possible or incinerated on-site.
The body and any contaminated consumable equipment, such as the plastic ground sheet, should be disposed of by incineration, or deep burial to a depth of greater than four feet away from water courses or by other means approved by local authorities.
