We believe that teaching basic pathology skills to every vet is a priority; with only basic equipment and some newly acquired confidence, you can use these simple, yet powerful skills to diagnose many different conditions: from common skin diseases, to anaemia, to recognising your first mast cell tumour. This course covers the major components of clinical pathology (haematology, biochemistry, cytology and urinalysis). There is also a module on post-mortem examination, developed in association with the University of Bristol, UK, covering correct sampling techniques, and description and interpretation of findings. We start with the basics — understanding what is normal — and from there we move on to recognising common abnormalities and conditions. By the end of the course, you will have improved your diagnostic potential and interpretive skills, and will have the confidence to integrate them into the challenges you face daily as a clinical vet.
